I've currently got a couple of acoustics on the go and will shortly be starting work on the neck. I want these to have asymmetrical headstocks. Love to see the creativity of the forum to draw some inspiration from. Thanks.

Here's two we just finished.
1) Spalted maple slot head w/ Alessi tuners:

2) Rosewood solid head w/ inlaid truss rod cover:

These are based loosely on the Gallagher French curve.
But we added a little hiccough to make it our own.
(It's a bugger to bind, though....)

Love that slotted one! [clap]

Now that we're at it: What makes one decide to have an adjustable truss rod accessible at the nut as opposed to the sound hole?

Hi Nick, thanks.
For me, it was the decade spent at a repair bench.
I got tired of moving strings around in order to adjust the rod. Of course with today's more modern rods--which are far more sensitive, requiring less movement of the wrench--it's not quite the issue it once was.

Even after first 4 wth adjustement through he soundhole, no 5 is already planned with adjustment at the nut end because moving strings about and re-tuning is a pain. Planning on using magnets to hold the cover plate, as Rod True showed in a celtic guitar build recently.

Some good food for thought there. Johny, that slotted design looks quite unique.

I made the haircut Epipone style that looks pretty good, but next time I have to be sure not to put the tuners too close to each other. They work, but there really isn't enough finger room in there.

Thank you gentlemen.

I was inspired by this headstock, from Artinger
